<div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:960px;display:block" width="960"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1787232923014philippines_band_13.gif" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left"><em>RAMB/US NOAA/Himawari </em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — Tropical Depression Neneng weakened into a low pressure area (LPA) and eventually exited the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) Thursday afternoon, according to PAGASA.</p><p>However, the weather bureau said it has a medium chance for re-development within the next 24 hours. </p><p>In the event of re-development, it will remain over the northern part of the Philippine Sea, far from the Philippine landmass.</p><p>As of 4 p.m., the LPA was located 480 kilometers north of Itbayat, Batanes, outside the PAR.</p><p>Although the southwest monsoon or Habagat continues to affect Luzon, rains have been significantly reduced.</p><p>Scattered rains may still be experienced in Batanes, Babuyan Islands, and parts of Ilocos Region.</p><p>Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao will have sunny and warm conditions, with isolated thunderstorms or rain showers possible in the afternoon or evening. </p><p>Meanwhile, PAGASA continues to monitor weather disturbances outside the PAR.</p><p>At 3 p.m., the tropical storm with international name Saudel was located 2,745 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas.</p><p>It has maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour with gustiness up to 90 kph and is moving north northwestward at 15 kph.</p><p>From the trough or extension of Saudel, a new LPA formed.</p><p>It was located 1,725 kilometers east of Mindanao at 2 p.m.</p><p>The LPA has medium potential for tropical cyclone formation in the next 24 hours. However, it may be short-lived due to unfavorable conditions.</p><p>Saudel will gradually intensify and reach typhoon strength while moving northwestward over the Pacific Ocean. It may move close to or briefly enter the northeastern corner of the PAR on Monday, August 24.
