<div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:960px;display:block" width="960"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1787466544292philippines_band_13 (2).gif" style="width:960px;display:block;height:auto" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left"><em>RAMMB/US NOAA/Himawari </em></span></span></span>MANILA — Typhoon Saudel may enter the Philippine area of responsibility as a super typhoon on Monday morning or afternoon, according to PAGASA.</div><p>At 10 a.m. Sunday, the typhoon was located 2,085 kilometers east of Extreme Northern Luzon.</p><p>It has maximum sustained winds of 165 kilometers per hour with gustiness up to 205 kph and is moving west northwestward at 25 kph.</p><p>Saudel is expected to remain far from the Philippine landmass but will enhance the southwest monsoon or Habagat toward next weekend.</p><p>This will bring increased rainfall over the western section of Luzon, including Metro Manila, where flooding and landslides are possible.</p><p>Meanwhile, the weather bureau is still not ruling out the possibility of the tropical depression east of Southern Luzon entering the PAR.</p><p>The local storm names Obet and Pilandok may be assigned to the tropical cyclones, depending on the order in which they enter the PAR.</p><p>At 8 a.m., the tropical depression was located 1,190 kilometers east of southeastern Luzon, very near the eastern boundary of PAR.</p><p>It has maximum winds of 55 kph with gusts up to 70 kph and is moving north northeastward slowly.</p><p>If this weather disturbance enters the PAR, it will be very brief as it will be influenced by the much stronger Typhoon Saudel, eventually merging with its broader circulation in the coming days.</p><p>North of the country, Tropical Depression Gaenari was located 635 kilometers north northeast of Batanes and is unlikely to re-enter the PAR or affect the country.</p><p>Habagat is currently prevailing in Luzon, bringing scattered rains over Ilocos Region, Cordillera, Cagayan Valley, and Central Luzon.</p><p>Metro Manila and the rest of the country will remain warm and humid, with possible isolated rain showers or thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2026/8/21/el-nino-to-be-biggest-for-over-a-century-uk-met-office-1615">El Nino to be &#x27;biggest for over a century&#x27;: UK Met Office</a></div><div> </div><div><strong>RELATED VIDEO:</strong></div><div style="text-align:center"><iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/7TA5uqSPa9w?si=ioX5kcwv164DbPbg" title="YouTube video player" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div>
