Handout/PAGASA</div>MANILA — Tropical depression Pilandok has maintained its strength as it moves west-northwestward over the sea east of extreme northern Luzon, the state weather bureau said on Sunday night.As of 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, TD Pilandok was located 1,100 km east of extreme Northern Luzon.It has maximum winds of 45 kph with gusts up to 55 kph and is moving west northwestward at 10 kph.Pilandok will remain far from the Philippine landmass and may weaken into a low pressure area over the northern Philippine Sea by Tuesday, September 1.<div><a class="fr-strong fr-green" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/8/30/marcos-orders-agencies-to-respond-swiftly-to-people-s-needs-amid-flooding-1317">READ: Marcos orders agencies to respond swiftly to people&#x27;s needs amid flooding</a></div>Aside from Pilandok, PAGASA is also monitoring three weather disturbances around the Philippine area of responsibility.The low pressure area west of Batanes now has a high chance of developing into a tropical depression in the coming hours.It will move northeastward and may enter the northwestern portion of the PAR. It will be assigned the local name &quot;Queenie,&quot; and may make landfall over Taiwan.Meanwhile, the remnant low of Saudel, locally known as &quot;Obet,&quot; has a medium chance of re-developing into a tropical cyclone once over the South China Sea.It is unlikely to enter the PAR.A new LPA also formed near Micronesia on Sunday evening, located some 3,100 km east of Eastern Visayas.It has low potential for storm formation in the next 24 hours. Its forecast track remains highly uncertain for now.Pilandok, the potential storm Queenie, and the remnants of Saudel are enhancing the Habagat, which affects Luzon and Visayas.Heavy to intense rains may still batter western Central Luzon through Tuesday evening and western Northern Luzon through Wednesday evening.The risk of flooding and landslides remains high in many areas, especially those that had significant prior rainfall in the past days.
