Maria Tan, ABS-CBN News</span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2026/8/7/habagat-to-drench-western-parts-of-luzon-visayas-0809">Tropical depression Maymay</a> and the southwest monsoon or Habagat dumped more than a week&#x27;s worth of August rain over several drought-hit areas of northern and Central Luzon in just two days, data from PAGASA showed.</p><p>In Baguio City, 355.2 millimeters of rain fell from 8 a.m. of August 5 to 8 a.m. of August 7. This is equivalent to 11 days’ worth of August rain in the city.</p><p>The following localities also recorded more than a week’s August rain in just 48 hours. </p><ul><li>164.8 mm    Dagupan City, Pangasinan</li><li>76.3 mm    Tanauan City, Batangas</li><li>58.0 mm    Tuguegarao City, Cagayan</li></ul><div><br/></div><p>Meanwhile, these areas received nearly a week’s rain. </p><ul><li>191.7 mm    Iba, Zambales</li><li>186.5 mm    Subic, Zambales</li><li>129.2 mm    Sinait, Ilocos Sur</li><li>102.7 mm    Cavite City, Cavite</li></ul><div><br/></div><p>The newly opened Abucay station in Bataan registered 171.9 mm of rainfall due to Habagat.</p><p>In Metro Manila, the NAIA station in Pasay City received 89 millimeters of rain, or about two weeks of August precipitation while Science Garden, Quezon City logged 73 mm or about 4 days of August rain in the locality.</p><p>While these rains helped ease drought conditions, they also triggered flooding and landslides in several areas. </p><p>In Rodriguez, Rizal, two people died in a rockslide on Thursday, while another two were killed in a landslide in La Trinidad, Benguet on Friday.</p><p>Rockslides and landslides were also reported in Tuba, Benguet and Sadanga, Mountain Province.</p><p>Floodwaters also inundated strawberry farms in La Trinidad, while an overflowing creek affected the Ganassi-Binang Road.</p><p>Flooding was also reported in several towns in La Union and Tabuk City, Kalinga.</p><p>PAGASA said 29 provinces experienced drought in July, including 12 in northern and Central Luzon. </p><ul><li>La Union</li><li>Pangasinan</li><li>Benguet</li><li>Cagayan</li><li>Isabela</li><li>Quirino</li><li>Aurora</li><li>Nueva Ecija</li><li>Tarlac</li><li>Zambales</li><li>Pampanga</li><li>Bulacan</li></ul><div><br/></div><p>Before Maymay, tropical cyclones Kiyapo and Luis had also brought rainfall over many parts of Luzon.</p><p>With the dissipation of Maymay, the <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2026/8/7/habagat-to-drench-western-parts-of-luzon-visayas-0809">Habagat will continue to prevail over Luzon and Western Visayas</a> through the coming week.</p><p>Heavy monsoon rains are expected in Ilocos Region, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro.</p><p>PAGASA warned against the continued threats of flooding and landslides in susceptible areas.</p><div><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/hligzrXd_7k?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span><br style="caret-color:rgb(0, 0, 0);color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"/></div>
