The crew of lunar mission Artemis II, Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch and Jeremy Hansen were given a hero’s welcome on Saturday (April 11) by NASA staff and other dignitaries in Houston after returning from their historic trip around the moon.The crew of four arrived at Ellington Field near NASA&#x27;s Johnson Space Center and Mission Control, where they were greeted by NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman and NASA&#x27;s Johnson Space Center Director Vanessa Wyche. Members from the European Space Agency also joined in the rousing cheer at the first sight of the crew the moment they disembarked an aircraft.The Artemis II capsule and its four-member crew safely splashed down in the Pacific Ocean on Friday (April 10) after nearly 10 days in space, capping the first voyage by humans to the vicinity of the moon in over half a century.The Artemis II flight, traveling a total of 694,392 miles (1,117,515 km) in two Earth orbits and a climactic lunar flyby some 4,000 miles from its surface, was the debut crewed test flight in a series of Artemis missions that aim to return astronauts to the lunar surface starting in 2028.
