<p>Typhoon Bavi pummeled Japan&#x27;s southern island of Ishigaki on Saturday (July 11) morning, bringing heavy rain and violent winds.</p><p>According to Japanese meteorological authorities, the typhoon continued to pass through Ishigaki and neighboring Miyakojima as of 9:30 local time (0030 GMT). </p><p>Authorities have issued a warning for strong winds reaching up to 60 meters per second (0.04 miles per second, or 216 kmh).</p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2026/7/11/batanes-still-under-wind-signals-as-inday-moves-towards-southern-japan-0659">READ: Batanes still under wind signals as &#x27;Inday&#x27; moves towards southern Japan</a></div><p>While small pieces of debris could be seen flying across empty city streets, only a few vehicles appeared to be driving amidst the flurry of rainfall. Boats at a local harbor rocked amidst strong currents brought by Bavi.</p><p>Flights and ferry services across the island remained suspended for all of Saturday, local media reported.
