Ready the family for a night of thrill in suspense as Cinema One premieres the horror flick “Haunted Forest” starring Jameson Blake, Jane Oineza, Jon Lucas, and Maris Racal this Sunday (July 8).

The old school horror with a millennial twist revolves around policeman Aris (Raymart Santiago) and his estranged daughter Nica (Jane), who relocate to his father’s hometown so that he can investigate a murder case eerily similar to the death of his childhood friend.

While her father is away, Nica, her cousin and her local friends wander at night, and she encounters a creature of local folklore—the sitsit. The creature becomes very fond of her and soon, tries to take a hold of her. Can Aris save his daughter from the evil hiding in the woods?

Ace Antipolo of movie review blog Movies for Millennials applauded Jane’s prowess following her head-turning performance in the recent horror thriller “Bloody Crayons,” and described her as ‘one of the most underrated actresses of this generation.’

He also cited the uniqueness of the film and wrote, “Ian Loreños’ film is more focused on playing with audience’s emotions through the movie’s characters. It doesn’t rely on shocks and jump scares to send chills . . . Instead, the film puts audiences into a roller coaster ride by placing its characters into different, horrible situations.”

The film premiered in cinemas last Christmas as one of the eight entries in the 2017 Metro Manila Film Festival. It also stars Joey Marquez, Dido de la Paz, and Myrtle Sarrosa.

Watch out for strange things lurking in the “Haunted Forest” this July 8 in the new Blockbuster Sunday timeslot, 7 PM, on Cinema One, available on SKYcable Channel 56, SKYdirect Channel 19, Destiny Cable Analog 37 and Digital 56.
