Duterte arrives in Qatar for last leg of Middle East visit

President Rodrigo Duterte arrived in Qatar early Saturday morning (Philippine time) for the last leg of his week-long state visits in the Gulf states.

Duterte arrived at the Hamad International Airport in Doha from Bahrain.

He is expected to meet on Saturday with Qatari businessmen in a forum aimed at encouraging them to invest in the Philippines.

Later in the evening, the president will meet the Filipino community in Qatar at the Lusail Sports Arena. Foreign Affairs department records show there are around 250,000 OFWs in Qatar.

On Easter Sunday, Duterte will meet with the emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, at the royal palace. The two leaders are expected to witness the signing of several bilateral agreements.

Duterte will also have a lunch with the Qatari emir at the royal palace.

The president is expected to return to the Philippines and arrive at the Davao International Airport early Monday morning. --with a report from Ron Gagalac, ABS-CBN News
