Between 8 a.m. of September 30 and 8 a.m. of October 1, the PAGASA station in Basco, Batanes recorded 727.8 millimeters of rainfall -- more than two month's rain in the area for September.

This rainfall amount breaks the previous record of the wettest day in Basco, with 616.4 mm of rain dumped by Typhoon Trining on October 27, 1991.

Moreover, in just an hour, between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m., 405.5 mm of rain was measured  -- more than the recorded 341-mm rain in 6 hours in Quezon City during Ondoy in 2009.

Uyugan town in Batanes experienced flooding due to the swelling of a creek in the area.

Laoag City, on the othe hand, received 481.6 mm of rain in 24 hours, more than a month's worth of rain in the city during September.

Other PAGASA stations which recorded significant rainfall are Calayan, Cagayan with 201.5 mm and Baguio City with 120.0 mm.

Julian formed from a low pressure area east of Batanes in the early hours of September 27, Thursday. It continuously intensified up to typhoon strength.

While it did not make landfall while slowly crossing Extreme Northern Luzon, its eyewall battered Batanes and northern Babuyan with very violent winds all day on Monday.

Over 77,000 individuals were affected by the strong typhoon, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported on Tuesday.

It is forecast to finally exit the PAR on Thursday.
