Reynan Arrogancia&#x27;s office</em></span></span></span>MANILA -- The Quezon Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) is still verifying whether the two recorded casualties in the province are related to severe tropical storm Kristine.</div><p>Dr. Melchor Avenilla Jr., head of the Quezon PDRRMC, did not provide details about the deaths of the two residents.</p><p>Nine towns in Quezon experienced flooding after being struck by Kristine.</p><p>According to Avenilla, the towns that were flooded include Lopez, Calauag, San Francisco, San Narciso, Buenavista, Mulanay, Pitogo, Catanauan, and Gen. Luna.</p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/regions/2024/10/23/mayor-of-general-luna-in-quezon-appeals-for-more-relief-goods-2316">READ: Mayor of General Luna appeals for more relief goods after &#x27;worst flooding&#x27; in 30 years</a></div><p>Flood waters have started to recede in several areas, he added.</p><p>In the town of Catanauan, many vehicles and motorists were stranded from Tuesday night until Wednesday night as floodwaters reached waist-deep levels on the highway in Barangay 10.</p><p>One of those stranded was Rosalinda Enopiquiz&#x27;s family, who were on their way home to Buenavista town in the Bondoc Peninsula area. They came from Batangas after picking up their sick child but could not cross the floodwaters in Catanauan.</p><p>She is now worried about her child left alone at their home in Buenavista. They searched for alternative routes but were unable to pass their tricycle due to landslides.</p><p>&quot;Hindi naman po kaya katulad niyan nagsubok na kami magpa-Lopez para makalusot… Hindi rin po at may lupa na nakataob sa kalsada,&quot; said Rosalinda Enopiquiz, who was stranded in the flood.</p><p>&quot;May anak po kami naiwan, nag-iisa lang tabing dagat pa naman eh walang kasama, hindi na po namin makontak, wala ng signal, nangamba kami baka may nangyari na,&quot; she added.</p><p>Heavy equipment and police trucks are transporting stranded residents into the town of Catanauan.</p><p>According to Engr. Marvelous Ferrer, OIC of Catanauan MDRRMO, Kristine brought more rainfall than Typhoon Aghon, which also caused flooding in May 2024.</p><p>&quot;Noong nakaraang araw po nagtala ng around 320mm accumulated rainfall na kung saan yung Bagyong Aghon is 140mm lang. Nangyari po yung Aghon within two days is 140mm. Dito po sa Kristine is around 320mm within two days, kaya yung ini-expect po talaga nating pagbaha ay talagang napakalaki. Kaya simula pa lang ay ininform natin yung kada barangay po na i-activate yung kani-kanilang BDRRMC (Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council),&quot; said Ferrer.</p><p>Authorities implemented forced evacuations, but many still needed to be rescued.</p><p>&quot;Nagpatupad po kami ng forced evacuation kasama po natin ang PNP at iba-ibang council po upang masunod po na maevacuate po agad ng mas maaga bagamat yung iba po ay hindi agad sumunod ay nagpaalala pa rin po tayo,&quot; Ferrer added.</p><p>According to the Catanauan MDRRMO, 740 families have been evacuated in Catanauan, where eight barangays were submerged in flood waters that reached chest-deep.</p><p>These barangays include Brgy. 1, 3, 4, 7, 10, Madulao, Ahon, and Cawayanin Ibaba.</p><p>According to the PDRRMO, approximately 11,500 individuals have been affected by Kristine in the entire province of Quezon.
