The town of Tagkawayan in Quezon has been placed under state of calamity due to severe flooding caused by severe tropical storm Kristine.

According to Reden De Villa, public information officer of the Tagkawayan LGU, their town has experienced widespread flooding.

Fifteen barangays have been submerged in floodwaters, with the agriculture sector being the hardest hit.

The damage to agriculture and fisheries has reached P106.5 million.

"The largest damage is in the fisheries sector, amounting to P60 million, while the rice farming sector has incurred losses of P25 million," said De Villa.

"This will facilitate the release of our quick response fund from the municipal budget and barangay funds so that we can provide the necessary assistance to our most affected residents," he added.

A 66-year-old woman has been confirmed dead.

According to De Villa, the victim was walking with her husband when she slipped and fell from a bridge.
