Some 2,000 riders participated in this year&#x27;s event.</p><style type="text/css" id="isPasted">

</style><p>Initial reports said a female motorcycle rider, later identified as Ana Marie Tasic, died <span style="color:rgb(65, 65, 65);letter-spacing:normal;orphans:2;text-align:left;text-indent:0px;text-transform:none;widows:2;word-spacing:0px;-webkit-text-stroke-width:0px;white-space:normal;background-color:rgb(255, 255, 255);text-decoration-thickness:initial;text-decoration-style:initial;text-decoration-color:initial;display:inline !important;float:none">after colliding with a participant of the Bohol Loop Motorcycle event last Saturday.</span></p><p>The Bohol Police Provincial Office said Tasic, a resident of Sikatuna and not a participant of the Bohol Loop, was traversing in the same direction as the other female rider.</p><p>“Unfortunately, the Bohol Loop participant suddenly maneuvered to the left direction and thereby was accidentally hit by the female, who was traveling from behind,” a report by BPPO spokesperson Police LtCol. Norman Nuez said.</p><div><ivs-player data-ivs-key="e8c22c015ca9eafa76f1e3edfa03c603" data-ivs-spid="3001339" data-ivs-vid="2997791"></ivs-player> <script src="https://player.ivideosmart.com/ivsplayer/v4/dist/js/loader.js"></script></div><p>Due to the impact, both riders crashed and suffered injuries. Tasic was killed in the incident while the Bohol Loop participant remained conscious.</p><p>Aside from this incident, the police also logged three other accidents involving participants of the said event in the towns of Jagna, Loay and Loboc.</p><p>For his part, Bohol Governor Aris Aumentado said they will not allow the holding of the same event next year should they want to do it again in Bohol.</p><p>“Dili na ta mosugot (We will not agree),&quot; the governor said.</p><p>A Facebook post from the governor also said the Bohol Loop is organized solely by Loop PH. </p><div><iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fericoarisaumentado%2Fposts%2Fpfbid0LYbuxL1rmo42tiinLQ5MQFCynDNuyjTgKPhXpHqRmt5nnGSrTxEiqBCJKzwPCM2kl&amp;show_text=true&amp;width=500" width="500" height="699" style="border:none;overflow:hidden" scrolling="no" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div><p>In a statement, Sen. JV Ejercito said he is deeply saddened by Tasic&#x27;s death, adding that the loss is &quot;truly heartbreaking.&quot;</p><p>Speaking to TeleRadyo Serbisyo, Ejercito, who participated in the motorcycle event, said he understands the decision of the governor &quot;that there will be no more Bohol Loop next year.&quot; He noted that the Bohol Loop was &quot;well-organized&quot;, with marshalls placed at specific vantage points to remind riders not to speed up if they are going too fast. </p><p>&quot;This is not a race. You have the whole day to finish one loop, kayang-kaya dapat. Tapos, mandatory overnight and then the next day. Hindi dapat nagmamadali,&quot; he said.</p><p>He said 98 percent of those who participated in the Loop were well-behaved &quot;pero may 2-3 percent na sabihin na natin pasaway. Ginagawang akala nila racetrack.&quot;</p><p>In the interview, Ejercito noted the victim was not wearing a helmet, did not have a driver&#x27;s license and the motorcycle had no registration. &quot;Alam mo naman sa probinsya, hindi siya kasi...very laid back...Sa probinsya, minsan wala helmet,&quot; he said, adding that all riders should wear motorcycle helmets. </p><p>He  also said he takes extra care when riding through towns and municipalities in case there are tricycles or other vehicles on the road. &quot;Lugar nila &#x27;yan kaya kailangan extra careful dapat,&quot; he said. </p><p>Another possible flaw of the recent Bohol Loop is the large number of participants who are not experienced riders. He said many riders only started using motorcycles during the pandemic. </p><p>Motorcycle owners should also give certifications that they underwent training before they are sold a motorcycle or given a license. <em>With a report by Annie Perez, ABS-CBN News</em></p>
