'PM to save a life': Group seeks help to save dogs from death row

MANILA — A Davao-based animal shelter is urging pet lovers in the region to adopt dog set to be executed by a Digos City dog pound.

In several Facebook posts over the weekend, Project Zero K shared an album of nine dogs set to be "put down unless adopted."

Under the Anti-Rabies Act, impounded dogs who are not claimed from the local government dog pound are placed for adoption, "or otherwise disposed of in any manner authorized" by the Animal Welfare Act.

That law prohibits killing animals like dogs and cats except "when done for the purpose of animal population control."

The group said they are willing to pay for the adoption fee, vaccination, and delivery of the dogs within the Davao region.

In March, Happy Animals Club was able to save 28 dogs from execution at the Digos City dog pound following their posts on Facebook.
