Gwen Garcia/Facebook </span> </span></span></span></div><p dir="ltr">MANILA – Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia has tendered her resignation as member of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP). </p><p dir="ltr">This political party used to be led by former President Rodrigo Duterte and was once known as PDP-Laban (Lakas ng Bayan). </p><p dir="ltr">In her letter, Garcia noted that Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama, another PDP member, had filed a complaint against her before the Office of the President in relation to her stance against the building of a Bus Rapid Transit station in front of the Cebu Provincial Capitol. </p><p dir="ltr">Garcia said she only wanted to safeguard the building&#x27;s cultural heritage. </p><p dir="ltr">She said “recent events have made it clear that my continued [PDP] membership is no longer tenable.” </p><p dir="ltr">“It has created an irreconcilable conflict,” added Garcia. </p><p dir="ltr">Rama sits as PDP’s Vice President for the Visayas. </p><p dir="ltr">Garcia has yet to disclose her next political party as the May 2025 polls near.</p><p dir="ltr">Prior to her joining PDP, Garcia was part of United Nationalist Alliance (UNA).</p><div dir="ltr"><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/2024/5/25/robin-padilla-is-next-pdp-party-president-tolentino-1247">Robin Padilla is next PDP party president — Tolentino</a></div><div dir="ltr"><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/regions/2024/4/20/duterte-stays-with-pdp-851">Duterte stays with PDP; party drops &#x27;Laban&#x27; from name</a></div>
