BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN — Provincial party ONE Cebu is still “as united as it can be,” Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco said on Wednesday, a day after her mother, Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia, announced her resignation as member of former majority party Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP).

The Cebu governor earlier said she split from PDP after Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama filed a complaint against her before the Office of the President due to her opposition to the establishment of a Bus Rapid Transit station in front of the Cebu Provincial Capitol.

“As far as I know Cebu is as united as it can be,” Frasco told reporters in a chance interview here.

Garcia heads the ONE Cebu provincial party, which has been dominating in recent elections and was affiliated with PDP in the 2022 elections.

Rama is founder and leader of Partido Barug, which is affiliated with PDP.

In February, members of ONE Cebu reportedly skipped a prayer rally for former President Rodrigo Duterte, who is PDP chairman.

Garcia has yet to say if she would shift to another political party for the 2025 midterm elections.
