<div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2017/sports/03/16/kath-arado.jpg"/><figcaption><div class="embed-desc">UE&#x27;s Kath Arado was one of four liberos included in the national team pool. <cite>Arvin Lim, ABS-CBN Sports</cite></div></figcaption></figure></div>MANILA, Philippines – Few volleyball fans saw a reason to complain about the inclusion of University of the East libero Kathleen Arado in the pool of the women&#x27;s national team.Arado, the co-Rookie of the Year in Season 77 (along with EJ Laure of University of Santo Tomas), is locked into a tight battle with De La Salle star Dawn Macandili for Best Libero honors in the UAAP Season 79 tournament.Though she plays for a UE team that currently has only one win in nine matches, Arado&#x27;s skills as a libero cannot be denied, and thus her presence in the 25-member national team pool was met with approval for the most part.Despite this, Arado&#x27;s mindset is that she needs to prove herself worthy of her spot in the national team pool, especially as she has fierce competition for the libero position in Macandili, former Ateneo star Denden Lazaro, and former National U player Bia General.<ul class="op-related-articles">	<li><a href="http://sports.abs-cbn.com/uaap/news/2017/03/15/lady-maroons-halt-four-game-slide-23286">READ: Lady Maroons halt four-game slide</a></li></ul>&quot;Sobrang blessed na nasama ako doon, sa dami ng liberong magagaling,&quot; Arado told reporters after a 28-dig performance against University of the Philippines on Wednesday.&quot;Kailangan ko i-grab &#x27;yung opportunity na andoon, and kailangan kong i-prove &#x27;yung sarili ko para masabi na worth it &#x27;yung spot ko doon,&quot; she stressed.(I feel blessed because I was included even though there are a lot of other great liberos. I need to grab the opportunity, and I need to prove that my spot there is worth it.)Arado said she has no expectations about making it to the &quot;final 12&quot; roster that will be sent to the Southeast Asian Games, or even to the line-up that will compete in the AVC Under-23 tournament in May.In any case, her focus is still on UE&#x27;s campaign in the Season 79 tournament.She is, however, looking forward to testing herself against some of the best players in the country, especially as she can bring that experience back to the Lady Warriors.&quot;Sobrang laking tulong kasi iba &#x27;yung national [team] eh,&quot; said Arado. &quot;So &#x27;yung mga nalalaman mo sa mga professional na players, &#x27;yung mga mas matatandang players sa akin, nadadala ko sa loob ng court sa UE.&quot;(It will be a big help to me because the national team is a different level. I can learn a lot from professional players and the older players, and bring that back to UE.)Pitting herself against multi-awarded liberos like Macandili and Lazaro is also a challenge that Arado looks forward to.&quot;Yun ang laging sinasabi ni coach sa amin – kahit na alam mo sa sarili mo na maraming mas magagaling pa sa &#x27;yo, make it a challenge,&quot; she explained.&quot;Para rin malaman mo &#x27;yung weakness mo, at &#x27;yung weakness na &#x27;yun, &#x27;yun ang i-improve mo para maging positive sa &#x27;yo.&quot;(Coach always tells us that even though there are better players than you, you have to make it a challenge.
