<p>MANILA, Philippines -- (UPDATED) Legendary basketball coach Aric del Rosario, best known for orchestrating University of Santo Tomas&#x27; (UST) &quot;four-peat&quot; in the 1990s, has passed away. He was 80 years old.</p><p>Del Rosario died due to cardiac arrest on Wednesday night.</p><p>The Philippine basketball community has begun to express its condolences, with former Gilas Pilipinas coach Chot Reyes paying tribute to a &quot;true lifer.&quot;</p><blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p dir="ltr" lang="en">RIP Coach Aric. He then coached the Pampanga Dragons in the now-defunct Metropolitan Basketball League.</p><p>In 2003, Del Rosario called the shots for the Philippine men&#x27;s basketball team that won the gold medal in the Southeast Asian Games.</p><p>He made his return to collegiate basketball in 2012, when he coached the University of Perpetual Help Altas and helped transform Scottie Thompson into an MVP-caliber player.
