UAAP Media.</figcaption></figure></div>MANILA, Philippines -- (UPDATED) De La Salle University put on a show in a 112-83 demolition of University of Santo Tomas (UST), Tuesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.The Green Archers were rarely troubled after a 36-point first quarter, and they cruised to their sixth victory of the UAAP Season 84 men&#x27;s basketball tournament against three defeats.It was a bounce-back victory for La Salle, as they were coming off a sorry loss to arch-rival Ateneo de Manila University last Tuesday. The Green Archers (6-3) are holding on to the third spot in the league standings behind Ateneo and the University of the Philippines.Starring in La Salle&#x27;s big win was Filipino-American guard Deschon Winston, who scored 19 points in the third quarter alone and finished with a game-high 33 points on a blistering 14-of-19 clip from the field. Justine Baltazar added 17 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists, while Evan Nelle went a perfect 4-of-4 from beyond the arc en route to 16 points.As a team, La Salle shot 58.3% from the field, while limiting the Growling Tigers to a 35.6% clip.&quot;Well, it was a total team effort for us. We had our best offensive game so far this season,&quot; said La Salle coach Derrick Pumaren after the game. &quot;We&#x27;re able to execute, we&#x27;re able to run.&quot;The Green Archers broke the game open early, racing out to a 29-8 lead in the opening period. UST, behind their three-point sniping, managed to get within 12 points at the halftime break, 58-46.But Winston gave them no chance to come back in the second half. The guard was on fire in the third quarter, making nine of his 11 field goals, and single-handedly out-scored the entire UST squad, 19-15. Behind his shot-making, the Green Archers took complete control, 86-61, heading into the final period.&quot;We had that stretch in the start of the third quarter that took the fight out of UST,&quot; Pumaren noted. &quot;And Deschon shot well today. It&#x27;s like he cannot miss today. The only guy that stopped him was me, &#x27;cause I pulled him out.&quot;The Green Archers went on to lead by as much as 32 points in the closing stretch of the contest, after a triple by Emmanuel Galman made it 110-78.Paul Manalang led the Growling Tigers with 14 points, and Bryan Santos added 13. But UST was no match for La Salle&#x27;s firepower in the game, and it did not help that they committed 22 turnovers that the Green Archers translated to 21 points.La Salle became the first UAAP team to breach the 100-point mark since UST in 2019.
