SEA Games: Filipinas edge Myanmar to take home football bronze

Handout</figcaption></figure></div><h3> 1st podium finish for PH women&#x27;s side in 1985 Games</h3><div> </div><p>The Philippine women&#x27;s football team capped its campaign in the 31st Southeast Asian Games with its best finish in 37 years.</p><p>Trailing Myanmar at the half, Sarina Bolden and company turned things around after the break to pull off a 2-1 win for a bronze medal in women&#x27;s football in Quang Ninh, Vietnam on Saturday.</p><p>The Filipinas rallied after Myanmar seized a 1-0 lead on Win Theigi Tun&#x27;s penalty kick in the 23rd minute.</p><p>Bolden then struck the equalizer in the 73rd to get things going for the Filipinas, before Quinley Quezada clinched the winning goal in the 76th.</p><p>The Philippines entered the Games looking for gold, but they couldn&#x27;t overcome Thailand in a 3-0 loss in the semis.</p><p>The last time the country medaled in SEA Games football was in 1985 during a 3-team single-round competition.</p>
