MANILA, Philippines –The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) on Thursday pledged to further support weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz, after holding discussions with the Olympian following her social media posts that went viral earlier this week.

Diaz, a silver medalist in the Rio Olympics, was accompanied by AFP Special Services Chief Col. Taharudin Ampatuan when she talked to PSC chairman William Ramirez on Thursday afternoon.

Diaz had taken to Instagram to ask for financial support from private companies in her bid to compete in the Tokyo Olympics.

"The government will continue to support her," said Ramirez, who bared that they have approved two more requests for assistance to fund Diaz's training in China.

"We have pledged our support before, and we will continue to do so because we are focused on that Olympic gold as much as Hidilyn is," he added.

Diaz, for her part, promised to "never quit" on her Olympic quest.

Another meeting is set between Diaz and Ramirez to continue ironing out some more details related to her trainings and preparation requirements.
