George Calvelo, ABS-CBN News</figcaption></figure></div>BOCAUE, Bulacan—Stanley Pringle may never get to play for Gilas Pilipinas, at least in 5-on-5 competition.In 3x3 basketball, however, he has shown that he can be a star for Team Philippines.GlobalPort&#x27;s Pringle made his debut for the Philippine national team in the 2018 FIBA 3x3 Basketball World Cup, where he teamed up with the TNT pair of Troy Rosario and Roger Pogoy, and San Miguel Beer Christian Standhardinger.Both Standhardinger and Pringle play as &quot;locals&quot; in 3x3, thanks to FIBA&#x27;s more lenient eligibility rules in the event. Neither player can suit up as locals in 5-on-5 events, which has prevented Pringle from ever playing for Gilas Pilipinas.Finally allowed to wear national team colors, Pringle did not disappoint. He scored four points in the Philippines&#x27; 15-7 dismantling of sixth-seeded Brazil in their first game of the World Cup – and all four points came in spectacular fashion.Pringle easily dismissed the defense of Brazil&#x27;s Carlos Silva Jr., unleashing crossovers to drive to the rim for lay-ups. In one memorable sequence, he scored on Silva, blocked Brazil&#x27;s Luiz Soriani in the next possession, then scored on Silva again for an 11-2 lead.&quot;It was so fast-paced,&quot; said Pringle after the game. &quot;But we were prepared for it, we executed and played hard.&quot;The 31-year-old guard was loudly cheered on by the sizable Filipino contingent at the Philippine Arena, which was much appreciated by Pringle especially after waiting so long to play for flag and country.&quot;They always show their support,&quot; he said of the crowd. &quot;It adds to the motivation, and I&#x27;m glad we put on a good game for them.&quot;&quot;It feels great,&quot; he added. &quot;They supported me the whole time.
