<p>Olympic table tennis player Ian Lariba passed away Sunday night after losing her battle with cancer. She was 23.</p><blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p dir="ltr" lang="en">Our deepest condolences to the family of Olympian and Table Tennis national athlete Yanyan Lariba (<a href="https://twitter.com/supersaiYAAAN?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@supersaiYAAAN</a>) who passed away tonight after a brave fight against cancer.<br/><br/>You are truly loved and shall be greatly missed. <a href="https://t.co/B37CbtQNqt">pic.twitter.com/B37CbtQNqt</a></p>— Philippine Sports Commission (@psc_gov) <a href="https://twitter.com/psc_gov/status/1036291777555128320?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">September 2, 2018</a></blockquote><div><script async="" src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charSet="utf-8" type="text/javascript"></script></div><p>Prior to her death, Lariba, who has been battling leukemia since last year, was admitted to St. Luke&#x27;s Bonifacio Global City after suffering a relapse.</p><p>She completed a 5-day chemotherapy protocol and had her brain and spine MRI last August 23. <br/> <br/>Lariba, a multi-titled student-athlete at De La Salle University, participated in the Rio Olympics in 2016.</p><p>She went undefeated her entire five-year career in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines playing for La Salle.</p><p>She was named Most Valuable Player in Seasons 75, 77 and 78 and was feted as UAAP Athlete of the Year in Seasons 77 and 78.</p><div><strong>For more sports coverage, visit the <a href="https://sports.abs-cbn.com">ABS-CBN Sports website</a>.</strong></div>
