James Yap sad to leave Star Hotshots

<div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2016/nation2/10/13/james-yap-starhotshots.jpg"/><figcaption><div class="embed-desc">Two-time MVP James Yap. <em>Photo courtesy of the PBA Media Bureau</em></div></figcaption></figure></div><p>MANILA -- PBA superstar Player James Yap admitted that he’s sad to be leaving the Star Hotshots to join the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.</p><p>The Hotshots released the two-time PBA Most Valuable in a blockbuster trade that will give them 2012 Rookie of the Year Paul Lee.</p><p>“Nagulat ako siyempre,&quot; Yap said in an interview with <a href="http://www.foxsportsasia.com/news/james-yap-traded-ros-ganun-talaga-ang-buhay-basketball/">FOX Sports Asia</a>, adding that he had just spoken to Star team executive Rene Pardo. &quot;Ganun talaga ang buhay basketball.”</p><p>(I was surprised, of course... That’s basketball.)</p><p>Yap has been part of the Purefoods franchise since he was taken by the team as the second overall pick in the 2004 PBA Draft. He has won seven PBA titles, including a Grand Slam in 2014. He also won two Season MVP crowns, aside from clinching four Finals MVP awards.</p><p>“Nakakalungkot dahil siyempre 12 years din ako and going 13 [with Star],” he said.</p><p>In the past couple of seasons, Yap&#x27;s playing minutes has decreased due to injuries. But the 34-year-old assured he can still deliver for his new team Rain or Shine.</p><p>“Ako naman handa lang naman ako. Basta laro lang ako, ibibigay ko lahat saka di ko iniisip kung sino ang mga players na nandun [in Rain or Shine].
