<div><script src="https://connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&amp;version=v2.5" async="" type="text/javascript"></script></div><div class="fb-post" data-href="https://www.facebook.com/coachjeanetharo/photos/a.146207742695688/402738830375910/?type=3&amp;theater" data-width="auto"> </div><p>Filipino boxer Nesthy Petecio clinched the gold medal in the 2019 AIBA Women’s Boxing World Championships, besting Liudmila Vorontsove at the latter&#x27;s turf in Ulan-Ude, Russia on Sunday.</p><p>Petecio, who hurdled England&#x27;s Karris Artingstall in the semifinals, outclassed her Russian rival in the women&#x27;s featherweight class despite the latter&#x27;s hometown advantage.</p><p>The Filipino boxer delivered the clearer and more solid blows in the 3 round affair, but had to settle for a split decision.</p><p>Three of the judges 30-27, 30-27 and 29-28 for Petecio, while the other two had it 30-27 and 29-28 for the Russian.</p><p>Association of Boxing Alliances of the Philippines (ABAP) president Ricky Vargas was elated with the result.</p><p>&quot;Nesthy deserved the win not only because she fought brilliantly, but also because she sacrificed so much for this,&quot; he said in a statement.</p><p>Vargas also gave credit to coaches Boy Velasco and Reynaldo Galido for their mentorship.</p><p>&quot;Actually, the entire coaching staff headed by head coach Pat Gaspi deserves credit, including our foreign consultant Don Abnett.
