Handout photo</div></figcaption></figure></div>MANILA, Philippines – Bianca Carlos and Ros Pedrosa turned what were expected to be tight championship battles into a pair of romps as they triumphed in their respective Open singles divisions in the Bingo Bonanza National Open Badminton Tournament Sunday at the SM Megamall.Carlos dethroned last year&#x27;s champion and top-seed Sarah Joy Barredo, 21-13, 21-11, to bag the women&#x27;s singles crown. It was Carlos&#x27; second straight win over Barredo, having trounced her rival in the finals of the FDG Cup last June as well.Meanwhile, Pedrosa halted unseeded Clarence Filart&#x27;s run of impressive victories with an emphatic 21-11, 21-14 victory to claim the men&#x27;s singles crown.Carlos and Pedrosa each received P100,000 for their efforts.<ul class="op-related-articles" title="Read">	<li>READ: <a href="http://sports.abs-cbn.com/uaap/news/2016/10/15/bulldogs-lady-maroons-complete-3-peat-badminton-16585">Bulldogs, Lady Maroons complete 3-peat in badminton</a></li></ul>Bracing for a fierce challenge, Carlos seized control early with her vast repertoire of shots, keeping Barredo on the defensive for majority of the match. She scored on a variety of smashes and drop shots, and repeatedly pounced on Barredo&#x27;s miscues to complete the win in just 35 minutes.Pedrosa, for his part, needed just 20 minutes to ease out Filart using his power game.Filart, a standout from Ateneo de Manila University, stunned top-seed Kevin Cudiamat in the quarterfinals and No. 6 Solomon Padiz Jr. in the Final Four before finding his winning run halted by Pedrosa.Peter Magnaye and Indonesia Devi Permatasari claimed a 21-15, 21-19 win over the pair of Ronel Estanislao and Keshya Hanadia to secure the Open mixed doubles title.(For more sports coverage, visit the <a href="http://sports.abs-cbn.com/">ABS-CBN Sports website.</a>)
