Jeron Teng ‘blessed’ to win first PBA title with San Miguel

Photo from PBA Images" src="https://news-workbench-api.abs-cbn.com/api/upload-raw/20240215130228/e52610aae349d35d6508ac7ec67f6c917c9fecc1d3b0cd90fd28d0f5ffb26a54.jpg" class="fr-fil fr-dib"/><figcaption>San Miguel’s Jeron Teng. <em>Photo from PBA Images</em></figcaption></figure></div><p>MANILA — Just like his father Alvin, Jeron Teng is now a PBA champion.</p><p>The 6-foot-2, former De La Salle Green University star, only logged five minutes during SMB’s victory over the Magnolia Hotshots in Wednesday night’s 2023-24 Commissioner’s Cup Finals Game 6, but Teng was just ecstatic that he finally won a title in the pro ranks.</p><ul class="op-related-articles"><li><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/sports/2024/2/14/san-miguel-rallies-past-magnolia-to-clinch-commissioner-s-cup-crown-2212">San Miguel rallies past Magnolia to clinch Commissioner&#x27;s Cup crown</a></li></ul><p><br/>“It’s my sixth year in the league, and it’s my first time to win a championship, so I’m really blessed na nakuha ko pa sa San Miguel,” he said at the Araneta Coliseum.</p><p>“To win dun sa team na pinaglaruan ng dad ko, kung saan multiple championships &#x27;yung napanalunan niya, I’m really blessed.”</p><p>“My dad played proudly for San Miguel, and I’m really blessed na I was given the opportunity to play with San Miguel,” he continued.</p><p>Jeron also shared how the ‘Robocop,’ who won multiple championships with the San Miguel franchise, has always been in support of his transfer to SMB.</p><p>“Sobrang proud talaga siya sa ’kin. Ever since napunta ako sa San Miguel, grabe talaga &#x27;yung joy na nabigay ko sa dad ko kaya sobrang grateful,” the UAAP champion said.</p><p>Jeron signed with the Beermen last October and followed in the footsteps of his dad, and he said that this decision proved to be great for his professional career.</p><ul class="op-related-articles"><li><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/sports/10/18/23/pba-jeron-teng-signs-with-san-miguel">PBA: Jeron Teng signs with San Miguel</a></li></ul><p><br/>“He just always tells me to give my best to San Miguel. Different kind of feeling, but I can finally say na nag-champion ako sa PBA. &#x27;Yun &#x27;yung worry ko, baka sa college lang ako mag-champion,” he said. </p><p>However, now that he’s accomplished winning a PBA title, his next goal is to be a key contributor as he continues his career with SMB</p><p>“I wanna do my best to help the team win more,” bared Jeron, who normed 3.7 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 0.9 assists in 11 games with SMB this conference.</p><p>But he also understands that it will take time for him to do so.</p><p>“Bagong pasok ako team so [I’m still] adjusting sa pace, sa teammates ko, pero slowly and hopefully, I’ll work my way up.”</p><p>Above all, Jeron’s goal is to collect more rings with SMB, much like Alvin who had nine with the franchise.</p><p>“First of many? &#x27;Yun nga eh. Itong championship feeling, it’s very addicting. &#x27;Yung All-Filipino, &#x27;yun &#x27;yung goal namin.
