Unstoppable Bolick is PBA Player of the Week

MANILA -- Robert Bolick put his skill set on display in the past week to lead the NLEX Road Warriors to back-to-back victories in the 2024 PBA Philippine Cup. 

The explosive guard fired 26 points then reset his career-high with a 46-point performance as the Road Warriors improved to 3-1, keeping them at joint third in the conference.

Bolick willed NLEX back from a 10-point deficit in a slim 96-93 win over the Meralco Bolts last Wednesday. He scored 16 points in the fourth quarter to lead the way in the Road Warriors' comeback.

Three days later, Bolick exploded for 46 points -- the highest scoring output for a local so far in Season 48 -- as the Road Warriors clobbered the Converge FiberXers, 115-93.

Bolick, who averaged 36 points on 59% shooting, 6.5 rebounds, and 6.0 assists in their past two games, earned the nod as the PBA Press Corps-Pilipinas Live Player of the Week for the period of March 6-10.

"Buti na lang may Bolick kami," coach Frankie Lim said after their escape act versus the Bolts. "Isipin mo kung wala ito rito."

The former San Beda superstar has been on a tear since returning to the PBA following a brief stint in Japan. He was traded to NLEX from NorthPort in December, and played four games for the Road Warriors towards the end of the Commissioner's Cup.

He has been on a different level in the All-Filipino Conference, though Bolick insists that his primary concern is the results that they are getting.

"Iniisip ko talaga is manalo. Individual lang yan (career high), team sport ito, eh. Masaya ako na nanalo at masaya ako na iyung teammates ko, nandiyan sila really to play. Kahit sino'ng ipasok ni coach, maganda ang nilaro. Sana magtuloy-tuloy na," said Bolick, who gets added inspiration from being a father in a few months.

[My focus is to win. The career-high is an individual achievement, but this is a team sport. I'm happy that we won, and I'm happy that my teammates were ready to play. Every player that coach fielded played well. I hope we can continue playing like this.]
