The Adamson University and University of the East battle in the UAAP Season 86 women's volleyball in Pasay City on March 3, 2024. Mark Demayo, ABS-CBN NewsMANILA — The Adamson Lady Falcons were able to return to the win column thanks to their close win against the UE Lady Warriors on Saturday.

The JP Yude-mentored squad was able to fend off any run that UE went on, with AA Adolfo and Red Bascon standing out for the San Marcelino-based team.

However, it was Barbie Jamili who made wonders for the Lady Falcons, with the transferee putting up 20 points and 12 digs in her first game donning her squad’s colors. 

"Masaya po at kinakabahan. First time ko po ulit mag laro ngayon," said the former National University Nazareth School star, who also had six receptions. 

This was the debut game of Jamili in the women’s division as she enrolled in Far Eastern University in the first semester of the previous season, but the 5-foot-5 young star said that she just remained patient during her residency.

“Patience lang po sa sarili, kasi darating at darating naman po yung time na para sayo talaga, pag binigay po, yun na,” Jamili added, while also expressing her appreciation for the opportunity that she got today.

“Thank you po coach, binigyan niyo po ako ng chance makapaglaro sa team. Thank you rin po sa patience.”

Yude hailed his player’s performance and also praised the Lady Falcons for performing their best game so far.

“Very good talaga yung nilaro niya ngayon,” said the former high school mentor.

“After nung game namin ng NU, sabi ko mag-try ng small line up. So kinausap ko sila at sinabi kong kailangan trabahuhin yung pasa niyo. Yung atake andoon, pero yung pasa [wala]. Nakita ko naman sa kanila na nag-double time sila sa pasa nayon, tsinaga talaga nila,” he added.

“Ngayon, good job for them. Pinakita talga nila yung pinaka-best game nila ngayon.”

Moving forward, however, what he now wants is for the team to be more consistent with their efforts and avoid numerous errors, especially since they can break the .500 mark when they face Far Eastern University.

“So far, wino-work out namin yon,” said Yude, pertaining to their 34 errors. “We are doing, we are trying na maging consistent kami every time. Yun pa yung mga tinatrabaho namin kada training,” he added.
