MANILA — Despite seeing little action for Alas Pilipinas, expect Faith Nisperos to step up for the country when needed.

The former Ateneo de Manila University standout finally entered the taraflex in Set 3 in battle versus Iran on Saturday after missing action in the first two games and even delivered the game-clinching crosscourt kill to close out a quick 25-16, 25-13, 25-15 victory—also propelling the national team to the semifinals of the 2024 AVC Challenge Cup for Women.

It was all country for Nisperos as she dons national colors.

"Para sa bayan talaga ang laban na ito. 'Yun lang ang nasa isip ko talaga," Nisperos told reporters after the game at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

Nisperos also vowed to give her all whenever given the chance.

"Siyempre po I do everything naman po with every chance na I can get, kaya nung pinasok po ako I can think is para sa teammates ko, para sa coaches ko, para sa bayan — lalaban ako," said the 24-year-old hitter.

Asked what makes this roster special, Nisperos asserted that a "great mix" of young talent and seasoned veterans helped Alas Pilipinas clinch its first AVC competition semifinals.

"This is a very great mix of veterans and young blood and I think isa din na malaking bagay si ate Jia [de Guzman], very natural leader, a very good setter po talaga, and with the leadership na binibigay ng seniors together with ate Dawn [Macandili-Catindig], talagang nadadala po kami mga young guns."

Nisperos also gave credit to the Filipino fans' support as the Nationals try to defend home turf every day since Thursday.

"Number One, we're in our home court kaya ramdam ko po talaga 'yung suporta ng buong bayan, 'yung mga fans very wild kaya sobrang heartwarming po talaga," she said.

Alas Pilipinas is on the verge of sweeping Pool A, and will face Chinese Taipei on Sunday at 7 p.m.
