File photo from Mark Demayo, ABS-CBN News.</div>MANILA — The NorthPort Batang Pier is poised to make a splash in the upcoming PBA Season 49 Governors&#x27; Cup.The Bonnie Tan-mentored squad added Jio Jalalon, Abu Tratter, Evan Nelle, and 2024 Rookie Draft fifth overall pick Dave Ildefonso to the mix, and for the multiple-time NCAA champion coach, the entry of the quartet — two of which are rookies — signals a new start for the Batang Pier.&quot;Actually, changing of the guards na this season,&quot; said Tan during the league&#x27;s Media Day in Pasay City on Monday.After reaching the quarterfinals last year, Tan is expecting Jalalon and the rest of their new players to boost their chances as they look to further their campaign and contend with the powerhouses of the league.<div><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/sports/2024/7/2/dave-ildefonso-set-to-join-2024-pba-rookie-draft-1853" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">READ: Dave Ildefonso set to join 2024 PBA Rookie Draft</a></div>&quot;He&#x27;s doing well. With his experience, sana madala niya kami sa next level,&quot; said the former Letran Knights coach of the one-time PBA Defensive Player of the League.&quot;With JM Calma being in our injured list ngayon, sana ma-fill ni Tratter yung toughness na kailangan sa team,&quot; he added.However, one thing that they are still yet to deal with is their situation with Ildefonso.Tan revealed that the former Ateneo de Manila University standout, who previously missed the Draft proceedings due to his commitment to Strong Group Athletics, is yet to sign the offer that they have given him.&quot;He&#x27;s our first-round pick ‘no, but wala pang final arrangement with him and the team,&quot; said Tan. &quot;Wala pang final arrangement with Dave, but word from the management, they offered yung two-year maximum contract. We&#x27;re waiting for Dave na lang siguro,&quot; he continued.He also bared that they have not yet met with Ildefonso face-to-face. &quot;After the draft, within that day nag-usap naman kami via Zoom. But we haven&#x27;t seen si Dave sa court,&quot; shared Coach Bonnie, saying that it was his former NU coach Jeff Napa who made the online conversation possible.Asked if they are planning to offer him to other squads, Tan said that there are no plans to do so as they are only waiting for Ildefonso to accept the rookie max contract that they have offered.&quot;Wala naman akong narinig na ganoon. Yun lang yung narinig ko, the team offered a two-year maximum contract for Dave,&quot; he emphasized.&quot;Again combo-guard siya.
