Photo by Jonathan Cellona, ABS-CBN News."/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">Angelica Yulo in a press conference earlier today. <em>Photo by Jonathan Cellona, ABS-CBN News.</em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — Carlos Yulo&#x27;s historic golden triumph in the 2024 Paris Olympics has been unfortunately overshadowed by factors and issues outside of the games.</p><p>Aside from the physical, mental, and emotional toll that the 24-year-old had to go through to win two gold medals for the Philippines in the Quadrennial Games, Caloy also has to deal with the untimely drama due to familial issues even before he can make his return to the country.</p><p>The Filipino gymnastics star already previously addressed the issues that he has with his mother Angelica Poquiz Yulo, with the latter having a rift with his girlfriend Chloe San Jose as well as financial concerns with his son.</p><p>Less than a day later, Mrs. Yulo appeared in a press conference with her legal counsel, Attorney Raymond Fortun, and went on to make her response and apology. </p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/sports/2024/8/7/carlos-yulo-s-mother-apologizes-hopes-to-put-an-end-to-public-feud-1625">READ: Carlos Yulo&#x27;s mother apologizes, hopes to put an end to public feud</a></div><div><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/csoNHbNqOLw?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span>&quot;Patawad, anak. Ang ganitong hindi pagkakaunawaan, nawa&#x27;y nanatili lamang pribado at inaayos sa personal na paraan.&quot;</p><p>&quot;Hindi ako perpektong ina, at alam ng Diyos na hindi ka rin perpektong anak,&quot; she continued.</p><p>Atty. Fortun, who claimed that he is helping Mrs. Yulo to solely put the issue to rest, then went on to plead to the media and the public to let the family handle their issues privately. </p><p>&quot;Ang aking pagtulong kay Mrs. Yulo ay personal kong karga, walang kabayaran. Ginagawa ko rin para matahimik na itong issue na ito. Ayoko po madungisan, mabahiran yung success ni Caloy Yulo. I think, members of the media, let&#x27;s focus on that. In the next coming days, Caloy will be coming home, sana wala na itong issue na ito pagdating niya,&quot; said Fortun.</p><p>However, both Atty. Fortun and Mrs. Yulo remained mum on the latter&#x27;s issue with Caloy&#x27;s previous winnings and his girlfriend.</p><div><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/3goFp1a8F1Y?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span>&quot;Yun pong problema na lumalabas sa media ay ordinaryong problema ng isang pamilya hindi lang sa Pilipinas kundi all over the world. Yun pong sa pera na umano&#x27;y ginamit ng mga magulang, hindi na po natin palalakihin ang issue na yan. Bakit? Kasi hindi naman dapat pinag-uusapan sa media yan at hindi rin dapat pinapatulan ng media yan,&quot; said Fortun.</div><p>&quot;Yun tungkol sa away ng isang ina sa kasintahan ng anak, hindi natin maaalis ang pagiging concerned ng isang ina kung sino ang kinakasama ng isang anak. Ang tawag po diyan ay maternal instinct. Ordinaryo, pangkaraniwan, at hindi lang sa Pilipinas. And yet, ito ang binibigyan ng halaga kundi lang ng media kundi ng mga netizens, which is so regrettable,&quot; he continued.</p><p>Mrs Yulo also mirrored the comments of her representative.</p><p>&quot;Sa bagay na po na yan, siguro kami na lang po ang mag di-discuss niyan sa family namin in private,&quot; Mrs. Yulo said. </p><p>&quot;Sana respetuhin niyo po. Kami na lang ang mag-uusap po. Ita-tackle na lang namin po yan within our family,&quot; she insisted.</p><p>And while Mrs. Yulo expressed her desire to put the issue at rest, it looks like reconciliation is, yet again, a different drama for another day. </p><p>&quot;Walang ibang hangad ang isang ina kung hindi ang ikabubuti ng kaniyang anak at sa bawat miyembro ng pamilya. Sana&#x27;y maunawaan mo na ang intensiyon ko ay malinis. Ako&#x27;y isang inang nasaktan dahil ang mabait na anak na pinalaki ko nang maayos at mabuting tao ay hindi na nakikinig sa mga paggabay ng magulang.&quot;</p><p>&quot;Pero as of now po, yun ang kinakapa ko sa puso ko. Masyadong malalim kasi yung pain eh. Parang sa ngayon, yun yung pinagpe-pray ko na mawala yung pain and afterwards ang kasunod nun is pagpapatawad,&quot; she continued. </p><p>&quot;Matatanda na sila so alam nila ang dapat nilang gawin. Hindi ko pwede sabihin kasi siyempre pag sabihin ko, gagawin nila for sure.
