Photo from Angela Davocol, NCAA Philippines.MANILA — After a dreadful 0-3 start to the NCAA Season 101 men’s basketball tournament, Colegio de San Juan de Letran is finally finding its rhythm in the elimination round with Jonathan &quot;Titing&quot; Manalili at the forefront.</div>Manalili was pivotal in his first full week as the starting point guard, logging averages of 11 points, 10.5 assists, 5.5 rebounds, and a steal to earn the Collegiate Press Corps’ (CPC) NCAA Player of the Week award presented by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) from October 20 to 26.This week, the rookie guard tested his mettle against Clint Escamis and defending champion Mapua University, where he tacked on 14 points, 10 assists and six rebounds, including the game-saving free throws to extend the game to overtime where they ultimately took an 85-82 win over the Cardinals.“Sabi ko naman, [may] kailangan akong patunayan kasi nga Rookie-MVP siya,” he said.“Kailangan kong mapakita sa kanya na kaya ko pa rin makipagsabayan kahit nasa college na ako. Siguro parang pinapakaban niya ako. Pero yun, tinatrabaho ko naman sa ensayo.”Manalili ended up scoring and assisting on 15 of the Knights’ last 19 points in their win over the reigning titlists of the NCAA.Facing T-Mc Ongotan and Arellano University next, Manalili continued to show why he’s a threat in the back court.While the six-foot guard only managed eight points on a cold two-for-eight from the field, the orchestrating continued, this time with 11 assists and five boards to guide the Knights to an 83-65 drubbing of the Chiefs.With their rough patch behind them, Letran climbed to a 5-3 record in Group B, just behind pool leader and longtime rival, San Beda University (6-1).Manalili bested teammate Kevin Santos, San Beda’s Janti Miller and University of Perpetual Help’s Mark Gojo Cruz for the citation supported by minor sponsors Discovery Suites and Buffalo Wings N’ Things, voted upon and deliberated by print and online scribes covering the collegiate sports beat.<div style="line-height:1.5"> RELATED VIDEO: <iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Rin2z9Y2XEY?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></div>
