Photo courtesy of POC Media Pool.</div>(UPDATED) Gilas Pilipinas Women are queens of Southeast Asian basketball once again.The Philippines emerged victorious after playing spoiler to host Thailand with a 73-70 win in the finals of the women&#x27;s basketball 5-on-5 event of the 33rd SEA Games at the Nimibutr Stadium in Bangkok.This marked the Nationals&#x27; third gold-medal finish in the biennial meet, and leading the charge was the duo of Kacey Dela Rosa and Afril Bernardino.The two-time UAAP MVP from Ateneo de Manila University imposed her might with 17 points, 16 rebounds, three steals, and a block, while the WMPBL MVP contributed 19 markers, 12 boards, and three steals.&quot;I can&#x27;t say anything about the girls. POC Media</div>Also starring for Aquino was Sophia Dignadice, as the daughter of former San Miguel Beer star Yves Dignadice scattered 10 points, three steals, two assists, and a rebound, while Chack Cabinbin was steady with four markers and five assists.However, it was Dela Rosa who stood the tallest, especially in the endgame. With the Philippines clinging to a two-point lead, 72–70, following a late rally by the hosts, Dela Rosa came up with a crucial block to help Gilas regain possession with under 30 seconds remaining.Cabinbin then split her charities at the 16.9-second mark, and while Gilas regained possession, their shot clock expired, giving Thailand one final chance to force overtime with 2.6 seconds left.Unfortunately for the home crowd, Kanokwan Prajuapsook missed the potential game-tying shot at the buzzer, allowing the visitors to walk away with the gold medal and complete a sweep of the tournament. Prajuapsook finished with 15 points for the home bets, while team captain Supawadee Kunchuan and Rattyakom Udomsuk chipped in 17 and 16 markers, respectively.
