Photo from UAAP Media.MANILA — Jake Figueroa may have ended his five-year UAAP career with National University with another third-place finish, but the future is bright for the do-it-all forward. In his last game for the Bulldogs, the 6-foot-3 winger finished 21 points, six rebounds, five assists, and two steals albeit coming in a 73-78 defeat to De La Salle University in the Season 88 Final 4. “Sobrang blessed ko na tinapos ko yung playing years ko sa NU,” reflected Figueroa, a member of this year’s Mythical Five. “Sobrang ganda nung journey na tinahak namin, lalo kaming mga seniors.” Aside from on-court prowess, Figueroa brings with him valuable lessons as he takes the next step of his career — lessons which Bulldogs head coach Jeff Napa imprinted upon him throughout their half-a-decade time of being together. “Yung pagiging leader at mature sa loob ng court [ang natutunan ko],” he emphasized. “Yun naman ever since yung sinasabi sa akin ni coach, maturity talaga.” The question now is: Where will Figueroa apply these now that his collegiate career has run its course? “Wala pa,” he said, when asked about his plans. “Gusto ko muna mag-relax.” Sources told ABS-CBN News that Korean Basketball League (KBL) teams have already expressed their interest in signing Figueroa, but he was non-commital when asked about this. ”Wala pa,” he answered after a long pause.</div>
