MANILA — Ashlyn Abong of the National University Lady Bullpups and Gilas Pilipinas Girls has passed away. She was 18.Gilas Pilipinas Women’s Basketball announced the tragic development on Saturday morning in a Facebook post. The squad, in the same post, penned a parting message to the kind soul.&quot;In loving memory of our teammate and friend Ashlyn Abong #21. Quiet, kind, and strong — that was Ash. She may not have said much, but she always said hi first. That small act meant everything. We are very proud of you,&quot; it continued.According to Gilas Women program director Patrick Aquino, as <a href="https://tiebreakertimes.com.ph/tbt/nuns-gilas-girls-standout-ashlyn-abong-passes-away-at-18/341007">reported by the Tiebreaker Times</a>, the 5-foot-11 center collapsed while training at their school.The school&#x27;s medical team tried to revive her and brought her to the hospital for care, but she did not make it.Abong also participated in NU Lady Bullpups&#x27; campaign at UAAP Season 87, where they finished second place.
