Photo from Strong Group Athletics/Facebook.MANILA (UPDATED) — TerraFirma future in the PBA is expected to be numbered.</div>After they ended their PBA Season 49 Philippine Cup campaign with yet another abysmal performance, multiple reports have surfaced regarding the Dyip’s uncertain fate in the league.TerraFirma is said to be already disbanded as talks of its franchise’s sale are currently stalled, leaving some of their players, coaches, and staff not knowing what’s coming next for them.Even one of their players, Javi Gomez de Liaño, found himself at the middle of that situation with regards to what could have been his return to the PBA.“Before I signed with my KBL team last month, I was leaning towards going back to the PBA,” revealed the University of the Philippines product during Strong Group-Pilipinas’ media availability on Wednesday in Manila.“They were supposed to work on a trade, but they couldn’t trade me because of the sale. They can’t trade players, and if ever daw, August pa raw or September, but that’s too long na for me so I decided to sign overseas muna noon,” he added.Gomez de Liaño eventually signed with the Anyang Jung Kwan Jang Red Boosters, but the deal between him and the Korean Basketball League (KBL) squad was called off.Despite this, however, Javi GDL does not have any sour grapes with TerraFirma.“Things turned out not the way we wanted, but I still respect them,” he said. I made a lot of friends and relationships, but now, I’m focused on moving on from that.”Together with the likes of Juami Tiongson, Stephen Holt, and Isaac Go, Javi GDL and co. managed to bring some semblance of hope for the perennial league cellar-dwellers in the Season 48 Philippine Cup.They not only made a rare quarterfinals appearance but they even took the San Miguel Beermen to the limit by forcing a do-or-die clash.“TerraFirma is known to not have a winning culture, but in my second year with the team, we had Juami, Stephen Holt, and the rest of the core, and wanted to win,” he said. “When you have players with a winning mindset, you can turn it around to a winning franchise.”And while his focus for now is getting overseas opportunities, Javi GDL wants nothing but a positive turnaround for Dyip.“I’m focused on the next opportunity that I may be getting,” said the 2022 Draft’s eighth overall pick, whose PBA rights are still with TerraFirma. “But, whoever buys TerraFirma, and if I come back, I want to bring that winning mindset back.”“I hope the next team that buys it, not just the players but the management and the team owners, want to win,” he added.For now, Gomez de Liano is looking forward to representing the Philippines with Strong Group Athletics in the 2025 William Jones Cup.&quot;It&#x27;s my first time playing for Strong Group Athletics and representing the Philippines in the Jones Cup. It&#x27;s always been a bucket list of mine to really play here. I&#x27;m just glad to be here in the moment and learn from my coaches and players,&quot; he said.The former UP standout is taking the opportunity to learn from his teammates, which include veterans Kiefer Ravena, Jason Brickman, Dave Ildefonso, Rhenz Abando, and Angelo Kouame. SGA had brought back the core of the team that won last year&#x27;s title.&quot;I&#x27;m learning from each and every player. Like Dave&#x27;s aggressiveness, Kiefer&#x27;s veteran experience and IQ. Every single player I observe them and I try to get something out of them so I can apply to my game and try to improve,&quot; said Gomez de Liano.For his part, head coach Charles Tiu said de Liaño is a welcome addition to the team following his stint in the Korean Basketball League.&quot;He&#x27;s definitely improved so much as a player. His confidence level is up there. He&#x27;s matured so much...
