Photo from Facebook/PUL.MANILA — Content creator and social media personality Joel “Malupiton” Ravanera relished his experience of playing in the Pilipinas United 3x3 League.</div><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/sports/basketball/2025/8/24/david-licauco-on-returning-to-basketball-pangarap-ko-naman-talaga-to-1931">READ: David Licauco on returning to basketball: ‘Pangarap ko naman talaga ‘to’</a></div>Together with De La Salle University ace Kean Baclaan and celebrity hooper David Licauco, Malupiton and his crew went up against vlogger Rendon Labador and company in an exhibition match in the PUL, with the latter’s team emerging victorious.But while Malupiton was on the losing end on Saturday at the Ayala Malls Manila Bay, the Cavite native was grateful for the eventful match that he had.“It’s a pleasure,” Ravanera jokingly said. “Pero ‘di ko alam na 10 minutes lang. Edi sana, tinambakan na namin agad. Tiyaka hindi kasi ako kumain eh, gutom kasi ako eh.“Para sa akin panalo pa rin kami. At sinabi ko kay Kean: ‘maging kakampi mo lang ako, panalo na.’ Pero ‘di sumagi ‘to sa isip ko. Yung mga napapanood ko lang dati, nakakasama ko na,” he added.Malupiton rose to social media fame for his comedic skits, often using his catchphrases: “Aray ko!” and “Bossing, kumusta ang buhay buhay?” in his videos, but he admitted that being invited to various basketball tournaments to play was never in his plans.“Dati pa naman, nung ‘di pa kami nagvi-video, matagal na kaming naglalaro,” he shared. “Mga pustahan, pero ‘di naman ganun kagalingan, naglalaro lang talaga kami.”“Aray ko! Naging celebrity pa oh, parang si Lito Lapid ah? Pero hindi, nakakatuwa na nakasama pa ako dito. Napasama pa ang bida, na-bunot pa,” Ravenera added.However, while Malupiton said that his only background in the sport was playing in unsanctioned games, what he can take pride in is being close friends with Green Archers gunner Kean Baclaan, as well as two-time UAAP MVP and Gilas Pilipinas star Kevin Quiambao.Malupiton, who lives near the Muntinlupa natives Baclaan and Quiambao, has always been close with the aforementioned stars, with the trio even starring in various ligang labas games both as teammates and as foes.“Lalo na yan si KQ? Bata ko yan. Magaling yang bata ko na yan. Hindi yan makakalaro ng Gilas kung hindi ko tinuruan yan,” he quipped. “Pangalawang tuturuan ko si Kean.””Once na mahawakan ko na yan, makakalaro na yan. Ako yung backer niyan. Kailangan ko nang mapalaro si Kean sa malalaking event. Tuturuan ko ‘tong bata na ‘to, may potential eh,” he added.Moving forward, on a more serious note, Malupiton then teased how he and Baclaan are planning something up, still related to basketball.“Oo naman,” he hinted when asked about possibly forming a team. “May gagawin kami niyan. Abangan niyo na lang.”
