UAAP Media.MANILA — Mark Belmonte has left University of the Philippines (UP) and is now eyeing a move to the NCAA.</div>The UP Office for Athletics and Sports Development confirmed the 6-foot-5 forward’s departure from the UAAP after a three-year stint, during which he helped the Fighting Maroons clinch the Season 87 men’s basketball title and reach three straight Finals appearances.&quot;Mark will always have his place as a champion in Diliman. Mula Season 86 hanggang 88, we are thankful to him for playing his part in our continued success,&quot; UP OASD director Bo Perasol said in a statement.&quot;We wish him the best and panigurado, he will keep playing his part for his next team,” Perasol added.The 21-year-old Belmonte averaged 3.7 points and 2.4 rebounds in limited minutes in Season 88. He is expected to have two years of eligibility left once he transfers to the NCAA and completes his residency in Season 102.De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, San Beda University, Colegio de San Juan de Letran, and another emerging NCAA program are among his early suitors, according to insiders familiar with the development. The school that secures Belmonte’s commitment can add him to its active roster in Season 103.Belmonte is the latest Fighting Maroon to leave UP for the grand-old league. Previously, Aldous Torculas left UP for San Beda, while Denzil Walker moved to Letran.
