FIBA Media</div>MANILA – The Gilas Pilipinas Women&#x27;s team capped off its 2026 FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup campaign with a historic silver medal.  Gilas Women finished second place in the continental tournament, after succumbing to eventual four-peat champions Australia, 18-9, in the final held at the OCBC Square in Singapore on Sunday.  The Kangaroos exerted their dominance to get a 6-0 lead, as Gilas Women struggled to find their groove in the halfcourt. Two-time UAAP MVP Kacey Dela Rosa ended the drought for the Philippines with back-to-back buckets, 6-2, but Australia caught fire from deep and never looked back. Veteran Afril Bernardino kept the Philippines alive with three straight buckets in the final stretch of the game.But the double digit lead of the Kangaroos was too much for Gilas, 18-7, with Cheska Apag scoring the last two points for Gilas Women before the final buzzer.  <div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/sports/basketball/2026/4/5/gilas-women-stun-mongolia-to-reach-semis-of-fiba-3x3-asia-cup-1641">READ: Gilas Women stun Mongolia to reach semis of FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup</a></div><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/sports/basketball/2026/4/5/gilas-women-outlast-japan-to-enter-first-fiba-3x3-asia-cup-final-1928">READ: Gilas Women outlast Japan to enter first FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup final</a></div>Despite the loss, Gilas Women still made history with their second place finish, the best performance of the Philippines and first medal in the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup.  The silver medal is an improvement from the team&#x27;s fourth place finish last year.  It was not an easy road for Gilas Women to get to the podium of the tournament. They had to pull off upsets against top seed and World Cup silver medalists Mongolia in the quarterfinals, as well as No. 3 Japan in the semis. Meantime, China clinched bronze with a 20-15 victory over Japan in the battle for third.
