<div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:960px;display:block" width="960"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1784525472600IMG_1451.jpeg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">San Beda University’s RC Calimag (#13) and Aldous Torculas (#24). <em>Photo from 19th FilOil Preseason Cup.</em></span></span></span>MANILA — RC Calimag and Aldous Torculas played pivotal roles as San Beda University dethroned their former team University of the Philippines to book a Finals berth in the 19th FilOil Preseason Cup.</div><p>Calimag erupted for 27 points on 6-of-10 shooting from beyond the arc, while Torculas added 14 points, three rebounds, and two assists as the Red Lions stunned the four-peat-seeking Fighting Maroons, 93-72, to set up an all-NCAA Finals showdown with Jose Rizal University.</p><div><a class="fr-green" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/sports/basketball/2026/7/19/san-beda-dethrones-up-sets-up-filoil-finals-clash-vs-jru-1951"><strong>READ: San Beda dethrones three-time champ UP, sets up FilOil Finals clash vs. JRU</strong></a></div><p>Despite knocking out their former school, both players insisted there were no hard feelings and that they were simply focused on helping San Beda win.</p><p>“Inspired lang din, and ang dami naming natutunan mula kay Coach Gold [Monteverde],” said Calimag, who won a UAAP Season 84 title with UP before leaving the Fighting Maroons after Season 85.</p><p>Since then, the 6-foot-2 guard has helped San Beda capture the NCAA Season 101 championship, but he said the lessons he learned at UP continue to shape his game.</p><p>“In-apply lang namin, sadly sa ibang team lang,” he quipped. “Grateful ako sa kanila, pero whenever I play them, I&#x27;ll always have a chip on my shoulder.”</p><p>Torculas, meanwhile, also won a championship with the Fighting Maroons in UAAP Season 87 before transferring to Mendiola.</p><p>Like Calimag, the 6-foot-4 forward said there is no bad blood between him and his former teammates, although facing them provided extra motivation.</p><p>“Na-inspire din ako na makalaban yung former team ko,” he said. “In a way, parang alam ko yung tinatakbo nila.
