MANILA – It looks like the Barangay Ginebra faithful will have to wait a bit longer to see Scottie Thompson back in action.The Ginebra guard was once again on the sidelines in their 110-99 defeat against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters on Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum.<div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/sports/basketball/2026/7/26/pba-fuller-tiongson-impose-will-as-rain-or-shine-overwhelms-ginebra-2215">READ: Fuller, Tiongson impose will as Rain or Shine overwhelms Ginebra</a></div>Thompson said he is still recovering from a left hamstring injury that caused him to miss the recent 2027 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers window.The 33-year-old suffered the injury during the PBA 50 Commissioner&#x27;s Cup playoffs, worsening as he continued playing in the finals series against the TNT Tropang 5G.&quot;Well I&#x27;m trying to be healthy day by day. So right now wala pa talagang exact ano [timeline]. Iba kasi yung hamstring eh. Minsan traydor eh. Minsan okay, &#x27;pag medyo wino-workout ko, sumasakit, tumitigas,&quot; Thompson told reporters after the game.&quot;So I&#x27;m trying to be healthy day by day. So far, indefinite pa,&quot; he shared.The PBA 50 Commissioner&#x27;s Cup Finals MVP said he has yet to join practice with the Gin Kings, as he remains focused on recovering from the injury.&quot;Wala pa, wala pa. It&#x27;s all recovery, strengthening and rehab,&quot; he said.With Thompson still sidelined indefinitely, he believes Ginebra&#x27;s backcourt and veterans will step up and hold the fort until his return.&quot;We all know we struggle right now. But as the game goes on, for sure there&#x27;s a lot of veterans sa amin that&#x27;s gonna step up sa next game. Sa guards namin, the veterans they know what to do,&quot; he said.&quot;Overall, we struggle as a team. It&#x27;s not about the individuals, we struggle as a team,&quot; Thompson added.Ginebra currently sits in fifth place in Group B with a 1-2 record, tied alongside the Magnolia Hotshots.The Gin Kings aim to return to their winning ways when they face the Meralco Bolts on Friday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
