Facebook/Strong Group Athletics.MANILA — Strong Group-Pilipinas dominated Wonju DB Promy-Korea, 113-87, for its fourth straight win in the 2026 William Jones Cup on Wednesday in New Taipei City.</div>Matthew Wright fired 24 points on 6-of-10 shooting from beyond the arc as SGA marked its fourth win in five games, while Tajuan Agee followed with 22 points.The team’s three-peat hopes, however, are in peril, after falling short of defeating Wonju by 32 points.According to this year’s tournament format, only the No. 1 team in Group A will advance to the semifinals, with hosts Chinese Taipei Blue assured of the other semifinal spot.In Group A, SGA is currently tied with Wonju at 4-1, but the Koreans hold the advantage due to point differential.Strong Group now needs to defeat Chinese Taipei Blue and hope that Japan beats Wonju to secure the top seed in Group A.Chinese Taipei Blue, which is 1-3 as of writing, is through to the semifinals regardless of whether it wins against SGA or not.In Group B, the top two teams will advance to the semifinals.The Philippines and Chinese Taipei Blue will meet again tomorrow, August 20, at 7 p.m.On the other hand, Filipino-American guard Ethan Alvano led Wonju with 37 points, seven rebounds, and five assists.Wonju will face Japan tomorrow at 3 p.m.
