Pero it’s just another shot,” said Quiambao, who finished with 14 points, five rebounds, and two assists as Gilas erased an 18-point deficit.For the Goyang Sono star, the moment was simply the payoff from a shot he has worked on repeatedly, giving him the confidence to take it when the opportunity came.“Wino-work on ko lang naman kung ano yung maitutulong ko sa team,” he said. “Nagkaroon ng opportunity, and sakto pina-practice ko yung shot na yun, so luckily it went in.”Quiambao also downplayed the notion that he had to replace the injured Brownlee, instead crediting Gilas for refusing to fold despite falling into a huge hole early in the game.“JB is JB. And sobrang thankful ako kay Kuya CJ [Perez] na binigay yung tiwala sa akin,” he said. “Resiliency yun ng team. Pinakita namin na we can keep up for the whole 40 minutes. We just needed to find that momentum.”Quiambao and the rest of Gilas now face another tough challenge against Iran on Sunday as they look to sweep the window.For the two-time UAAP MVP, the focus is now on staying grounded after the emotional victory.“Laging sinasabi ni Coach Tim na we just only need one point to win every game. And nangyari nga, one point nga, so we just need to prepare nang maayos,” he said. “Hopefully, madala namin yung momentum for Sunday’s game.”
