Handout/Gymnastics Association of the Philippines</div>MANILA – Hometown bet Eldrew Yulo clinched bronze in the floor exercise finals of the 3rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics Junior World Championships on Sunday. After hurting his ankle in the men&#x27;s all-around finals on Saturday, Yulo and his team decided to lower the difficulty level of his floor exercise routine for Sunday. Yulo ranked as high as first after a solid floor exercise routine with a score of 13.733 (8.433 execution, 5.300 difficulty), following wobbly landings due to his injured right ankle. <div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/sports/othersports/2025/11/22/eldrew-yulo-finishes-in-8th-place-in-individual-all-around-1952">READ: Eldrew Yulo finishes in 8th place in individual all-around</a></div>The 17-year-old Pinoy gymnast slid to third following the performances of China&#x27;s Langbin Yang (13.833) and Italy&#x27;s Simone Speranza (13.766). It was a nail-biter ending in the floor exercise finals, as all-around gold medalist Arsenii Dukhno was last to perform in the event. But Dukhno suffered a 0.1 penalty after stepping off the mat in his second pass, along with a shaky final landing, resulting in a score of 13.633. Dukhno&#x27;s score was good enough for fourth, keeping Yulo in the top three, clinching the country&#x27;s first medal in the Junior World Championships. Yang ended up winning the gold, while Speranza took home silver in floor exercise. &quot;I really don&#x27;t know what to say because this is not just any competition. Nakakaiyak sobra. Siyempre mag-sstart palang journey ko, marami pa pong dadaanan na disappointment at happiness. Sobrang saya ko po,&quot; Yulo told reporters after the finals. &quot;Kagat labi, kagat nails po talaga ako kanina. Napapaisip na it&#x27;s okay if fifth or fourth, at least I did my best. Lumaban parin ako ng may iniinda. Nagpasalamat nalang po ako kay Lord na binigyan niya ako ng ganitong opportunity at lakas na lumaban,&quot; he added. The 17-year-old admitted feeling bittersweet when Dukhno stepped off the mat. &quot;Napasabi ako Lord kung mabait po talaga kayo sa akin, mabibigay po sa akin ito. Hindi naman po in a bad way,&quot; he said. &quot;I feel bittersweet po kasi, inisip ko po kasi not enemy or something, it&#x27;s my opponent but still my best friend talaga. We&#x27;re always talking there about the floor. So I kinda feel bad and good. Mixed emotions kaya naiiyak ako kanina,&quot; the Pinoy gymnast explained. Yulo said he was still feeling pain in his right ankle, especially when he went up the podium during the introduction of athletes. &quot;Masakit parin po. But we still managed to compete with it and we still managed to get bronze even though I injured myself yesterday. It&#x27;s Filipino, we will fight til the very end,&quot; he said. &quot;Sobrang saya ko po kahit bronze lang, kahit di ko man maririnig yung national anthem ng Pilipinas, still naitaas ko parin yung bandera ng Pilipinas para sa ating lahat. So still a great fight for me,&quot; Yulo shared. The 17-year-old rated the pain at a 10 if he does a deep landing, so he is considering toning down the difficulty level of his vault routine.  Yulo will still compete in the finals of vault and horizontal bar on Sunday. &quot;Mas naghahangad nalang ako sa high bar, kasi sa vault iniinda ko parin po yung sakit. Pero lalaban parin po talaga tayo. Gagawin ko lahat ng kapangyarihan ko po ulit bukas para makakuha ng medalya,&quot; he said.<div></div>
