Mary Anne Rivera for ABS-CBN News"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">Filipina tennis star Alex Eala and partner Renata Zarazúa during the doubles tournament of the 2025 French Open, May 30, 2025. <em>Mary Anne Rivera for ABS-CBN News</em></span></span></span>Filipina tennis star Alex Eala wrapped up her maiden stint in Roland Garros on Friday, after she and partner Renata Zarazúa bowed out in the second round of the women&#x27;s doubles.</div><p>Eala and Mexico&#x27;s Zarazúa absorbed a 1-6, 3-6 loss to Russia&#x27;s Anastasia Potapova and Serbia&#x27;s Olga Danilović, marking their exit from the 2025 French Open.</p><p>Potapova and Danilović fired 30 winners to just 10 for Eala and Zarazúa, while also forcing them into 21 errors.</p><p>After falling behind 0-4, Eala and Zarazúa came alive to win back-to-back games and put some pressure on their opponents. </p><p>Potapova and Danilović recovered to take a 5-2 lead, but they fell prey to errors in the eighth game to give Eala and Zarazúa some hope, 5-3.</p><p>That was the closest that Eala and Zarazúa would get, however, as back-to-back errors from Eala handed Potapova and Danilović the win after an hour and five minutes in Court 6.</p><p>Eala had written more sporting history for the Philippines last Tuesday, when she and Zarazúa defeated Britain&#x27;s Emily Appleton and Spain&#x27;s Yvonne Cavalle-Reimers 7-5, 6-4 -- the first Grand Slam match win for a Filipino woman.</p><p>The 20-year-old had earlier bowed out of the singles draw in the first round after losing to Emiliana Arango of Colombia, 0-6, 6-2, 3-6.</p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/sports/othersports/2025/5/27/alex-eala-sees-new-era-for-filipino-sport-after-first-grand-slam-match-win-0609" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">READ: Alex Eala sees &#x27;new era for Filipino sport&#x27; after first Grand Slam match win</a></div><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/sports/othersports/2025/5/25/comeback-falls-short-as-alex-eala-loses-to-arango-in-french-open-2136">READ: Comeback falls short as Alex Eala loses to Arango in French Open</a></div><p>The pair of Potapova and Danilović will play Slovakia&#x27;s Tereza Mihalíková and Great Britain&#x27;s Olivia Nicholls in the third round. </p>
