Clive Brunskill, Getty Images/AFP</div>Filipina star Alex Eala exited the BNP Paribas Open on Wednesday (Manila time) after a straight sets defeat to Linda Nosková of the Czech Republic.Nosková authored a comprehensive 6-2, 6-0 triumph over Eala to advance to the quarterfinals at Indian Wells.Nosková, currently ranked 14th in the world, overwhelmed Eala with her power and shot-making, taking the opening set in just 32 minutes before surging to a commanding lead in the second.World No. 32 Eala had some strong moments, including a gritty hold in the fifth game of the first set where she fired a volley to get within 3-2. But Nosková quickly won the next three games to regain control, and went on to cruise to victory. The loss ends what had been a strong run for Eala in her maiden campaign in Indian Wells. The Filipina entered as the 31st seed and received a bye to the second round, where she outlasted Dayana Yastremska in a 7-5, 4-6, 7-5 thriller.She then advanced to the fourth round after her opponent, American superstar Coco Gauff, retired with an arm injury.But she had few answers for Nosková, and Eala has now lost all 11 of her matches against Czech opponents in her tennis career. <div> </div><div>SETTING THE TONE</div>Nosková set the tone early in the opening set by breaking Eala’s serve in the first game to take a 1–0 lead, then quickly holding serve for 2–0. Eala showed resilience in the third game, battling back from 15–40 and winning a tense deuce exchange to hold serve and get on the board at 2–1.However, Nosková’s powerful serving and aggressive baseline play kept the pressure on. The Czech star held comfortably again for 3–1, while Eala managed to stay within reach after a solid hold highlighted by a volley winner at the net to make it 3–2.From there, Nosková began to pull away. She secured another quick service game to go up 4–2, then capitalized on a double fault and a down-the-line winner to break Eala once more for a 5–2 advantage. Serving for the set, Nosková survived a brief challenge from Eala before sealing it with an ace, taking the opening frame 6–2.The second set proved even more difficult for the Filipina. Nosková immediately broke Eala again to open the set and followed it with a dominant hold for 2–0. Despite briefly leading 30–15 in the next game, Eala could not hold off Nosková’s relentless pressure as the Czech player forced another break to extend the lead to 3–0.Nosková continued to dictate play, adding an ace to hold for 4–0, before breaking Eala yet again after a sharp passing shot and an unforced error pushed the score to 5–0. Moments later, Nosková closed out the match with a quick love game on her serve, completing the 6–2, 6–0 victory.
