She memorably reached the final of the 2021 US Open, and has since won five WTA titles, most recently the Japan Women&#x27;s Open in October 2025. </p><p>Eala is <a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/sports/othersports/2026/4/8/tennis-alex-eala-bundled-out-of-linz-open-by-ostapenko-2241">coming off a loss</a> to former Grand Slam champion Jeļena Ostapenko of Latvia in the round-of-16 at the Linz Open.</p><p>This is Eala and Fernandez&#x27;s first match-up in the WTA tour.</p><p>The winner will face the victor between seed No. 5 Jasmine Paolini and a qualifier. </p>
