Eala faces Pavlyuchenkova in singles; teams up with Somnez in Madrid

<p>Filipina tennis star Alex Eala will face qualifier Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the opening round of her campaign in the Madrid Open.</p><p>At 34 years old, Pavlyuchenkova is ranked WTA No. 116, with 12 WTA singles titles won since her pro debut in 2007. These titles are: 2018 - Strasbourg; 2017 - Rabat, Monterrey, Hong Kong; 2015 - Linz; 2014 - Paris [Indoors], Moscow; 2013 - Monterrey, Oeiras; 2011 - Monterrey; and 2010 - Monterrey, Istanbul.</p><p>Her best Grand Slam result was as a finalist in the 2021 French Open, where she finished runner-up to Barbora Krejčíková.
