<div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:960px;display:block" width="960"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/177875237562820231002-asian-games-weightlifting-diaz-POC-4.jpg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">Hidilyn Diaz successfully lifts first attempt in snatch at 63 kgs in women’s 59 kgs class of weightlifting at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou on October 2, 2023. <em>PSC-POC MediaPool/ ABS-CBN News file</em></span></span></span></div><p>Filipino Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz wants to pursue studies abroad, saying she wants to keep on learning and help more Filipinos.</p><p>Diaz, who is currently teaching weightlifting at the University of the Philippines, emphasized the importance of continued learning. </p><p>She said she is thinking of applying to study in a school in Europe within the year and is considering taking up a course related to sports management and sports business.</p><p>“Continue learning kasi at the end of the day, marami na nagsasabi ‘gold medalist ka what’s next?’ Para sa akin after gold, I have to learn something and level up,” Diaz told ABS-CBN.</p><p>She hoped to share her knowledge to the younger athletes today. </p><p>She is happy that weightlifting has become bigger in the country and wants to further expand the reach of the sport.</p><p>“This year magiging regular sport na ang weightlifting so with 16 regions na mag-participate. After that we’re talking with [National Collegiate Athletic Association] and [University Athletic Association of the Philippines],” she added.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/sports/othersports/2026/5/13/hidilyn-diaz-sees-teaching-in-up-as-stepping-stone-to-integrating-weightlifting-in-ph-education-2111"><strong>READ: Hidilyn Diaz sees teaching in UP as stepping stone to integrating weightlifting in PH education<br/></strong></a></div><p>The weightlifting champion also shared that she is proud of the achievement of Albert Ian Delos Santos, who was coached by her husband and who recently won in Egypt.</p><p>“To witness Ian lifting 187 kilos sa Egypt -- world junior record &#x27;yun at nanalo siya ng gold. It’s a big thing.
