Handout photo</div>MANILA -- Cyclist Maritanya Krog and track stars Pi Durden Wangkay and Naomi Marjorie Cesar will lead the Philippine contingent in the 4th Youth Olympic Games in Senegal this October.&quot;They have been nominated by their respective national sports associations (NSAs) and we&#x27;re awaiting six more nominations,&quot; said Philippine Olympic Committee President Abraham &quot;Bambol&quot; Tolentino on Thursday.The trio will be joined by six more young Filipino athletes in the Games set for October 31 to November 13 in Dakar.The International Olympic Committee has allocated nine universality places for the Philippines: two in athletes; one female cyclist for road and individual time trial; a male and female athlete in artistic gymnastics; a male athlete in windsurfing; a female in athlete in women&#x27;s taijiquan combined in wushu; a male athlete in the men&#x27;s 100-m butterfly; and a female athlete in the women&#x27;s 100-m breakstroke.The Youth Olympic Games are for athletes 15-18 years old.Krog was nominated based on her sixth-place finish at the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain last year on top of consistently winning gold medals at the Batang Pinoy and National Cycling Championships.She recently finished just outside the podium in the women&#x27;s elimination race in the Asian Cycling Confederation Track Championships at the Tagaytay CT Velodrome last March.<div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/sports/othersports/2026/3/28/pinay-teenager-just-misses-out-on-podium-at-asian-track-championships-2035">READ: Pinay teenager just misses out on podium at Asian track championships</a></div>&quot;She has the potential although we need to raise the level of her training program for Senegal,&quot; said Tolentino, also the president of the PhilCycling.Wangkay won the men&#x27;s 200 meters gold medal and Cesar clinched a silver medal in the girls&#x27; 800 meters behind a Chinese in last October&#x27;s Asian Youth Games in Bahrain.All three athletes are 17 years old.
